As a Quality Manager (Footwear), you are the guardian of quality of the Brand’s footwear products. You partner with vendors to manage quality programs and processes in order to ensure consistency and effectiveness in achieving product quality requirements and quality performance. You are the leader of your team, providing guidance and motivate team for their best performance. You constantly review the quality standard, processes, initiatives, and any relevant activities. You also design and deliver training to vendor and internal team members. You will be working on a cross-functional team of experts responsible for the quality control, assurance, and compliance of our raw materials and finished goods. Our local Quality Team interfaces heavily with the Vancouver and Hong Kong based Sourcing and Quality teams, and you will have the opportunity to partner directly with these teams to achieve quality finished goods that meet the highest quality standards in footwear product. If you were the Quality Manager (Footwear) now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing: • Supporting the footwear product industrialization and sourcing teams with sample inspection from creation, through pre-production stages • Overseeing team of Quality Specialist and vendor QCs in carrying out regular checks and inspections through the manufacturing process, from pre-production, raw materials to finished goods stages • Fully managing team of Quality Specialists on workload, assignment, and performance • Reviewing quality issues and failed audits as reported by Quality Specialist, and further escalating to quality and/or sourcing leaders as required with proposed solutions • Ensuring all tasks are duly recorded on standard documentation or digital inspection platform (Inspectorio) • Reviewing with vendors on quality performance; developing and tracking performance improvement plan • Monitoring and advising vendor on Brand’s standards and requirements, quality management system and factory set-up • Collaborating with Sourcing team in monitoring and tracking work in progress (WIP); calling out any abnormality or potential risk • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and identifying potential Vendor Social Labour (VSL) issues • Sharing best practices and other relevant information communicated and implemented across relevant teams and vendors • Reviewing and monitoring the Corrective Action and Preventive Actions (CAPA) reports from factories and highlighting improvements as required • Developing and conducting training to internal team members and vendors • Preparing and facilitating management or guests’ visit to the production country and vendor • Involving in tasks or projects of the Quality Team as and when assigned Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future: • Collaborating with Arc’teryx Design and Industrializatoin teams based in Portland • Reviewing and developing processes to enhance quality performance • Developing training materials and conducting training for Factory Certified Auditors (FCAs) and QCs • Participating in on-boarding and supporting new vendors [Requirements] • You have a post-secondary degree in related fields (e.g. manufacturing, footwear design) • You have around 8 years experience in active/sports footwear industry with at least 3 years directly leading a team • You possess a strong understanding of best practices in active/sports footwear raw materials, components, fitting, sample-making/commercialization, and manufacturing technique and processes. • You demonstrate good collaboration and leadership • You have experience working with international, globally based teams • You are comfortable overseeing and communicating needs throughout production schedules • You are proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite • You have a strong ability to understand data and metrics and transform them into a compelling story • You are fluent in written and spoken English • You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions • You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity • You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration • You inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement • You seek the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions, with an unwavering commitment to do what is right
